'Angry Video Game Nerd' A Disappointing Failure

If you are frequent purveyor of our blog, you may know that we're HUGE fans of Cinemassacre - home of the brilliant web series, The Angry Video Game Nerd. Matei most notably works on Rolfe's famous Internet series The Angry Video Game Nerd , for which he co-writes, plays a variety of characters ( Jason Voorhees , The Cowardly Lion , The Joker , Leatherface , Bugs Bunny , a Klingon , Michael Myers , etc.), and illustrated the title cards for episodes 5-100 as well as 139.

I can understand not liking puzzle games, but Zelda gives people a unique puzzle-solving experience that can't be found anywhere else. Here at , we take videos seriously, so when it came time for us to determine what videos would do a lazy day justice, we had some pretty stringent parameters.

WatchMojo also called the Nerd as a "trendsetter" for other gamers and amateur reviewers online, influencing the likes of those such as the Nostalgia Critic, Angry Joe and others. Aside from that, I spend time with my girlfriend, who is also an avid Nintendo fan, and we enjoy antiquing and playing video games together in our spare time.

There are also some very nice cameos from other ceinemassacre videos which any fan will plot itself is based around all of the ET Atari games being hidden in the landfill. As for fighting games, I love Smash Bros. The Nerd uses a NES Zapper as his main weapon, and a character known as Naggi the Patronizing Firefly, a parody of Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, guides Mike Matei him through the tutorial.

I like how in each 32 bit one, there is at least one enemy boss who is smaller than you while there would be another one where you would be as tall as where their knee is. I would only like it if they went 32 bit if it is more like Mega Man X4 than X5 and X6 where they began to screw with the classic gameplay mechanics and screw up how they name the Mega Man X robot masters.

9 is definitely harder than say, 2 or 3; and 10 is definitely easier than 9. But, that's how you make NES games…you have to give players a challenge or they're going to plow through it in a weekend, at most. One interesting aspect of the video is that Mike commissioned a video game hardware wizard to make him a Game Gear that is capable of video out.

The video quality is about what you'd expect from YouTube, however, this set is far better simply for the fact that you don't have to deal with YouTube's cumbersome interface, ads, and the random pixilation that sometimes occurs during YouTube videos.

In late 2014, a persistent rumor started appearing in comments on Cinemassacre videos that Matei has a large penis. We sit around playing a bunch of bad games while taking notes. All of these guest characters have been played by Mike Matei, the real life best friend of James ‘The Nerd' Rolfe.

The AVGN reviews the Sega CD system and the games Ground Zero: Texas, Slam City with Scottie Pippen, Double Switch, Night Trap, Corpse Killer, Time Gal, Lethal Enforcers, The Adventures of Willy Beamish, Road Avenger, Jurassic Park, Prize Fighter, and many more.

Hopefully, you enjoyed getting to hear a bit about one of the all-time greats of gaming videos. The full AVGN theme song was used for the first time in this episode. Mike was gracious enough to take the time to talk to Nintendo Enthusiast and we picked his brain on his history, his love for Nintendo, and what he has coming up. We proudly present to you an exclusive interview with the one, the only, Mike Matei.
